My Christmas List

The holidays are coming!!

With Halloween and Bonfire night out the way, whether you like it or not Christmas is only round the corner, so what better time to start getting organised. I really need to practice what I preach. SO many people that I’ve spoken to have started if not finished buying presents and all I’ve bought is cards ahhh. I do intend on going to Cheltenham this weekend though to tick of a good portion of my list (and of course have a mooch in the new John Lewis). I’d recommend at least planning what you’d like to buy particularly with Black Friday on the horizon. I know I’ll definitely be making the most of the sales.

So I guess the aim of this blog post is to 1. Give you all a little inspiration 2.Let my family know whats on my wishlist this year ha and 3. Here’s hope this will give myself a kick up the arse.

Autumn Clothes and Beauty Haul

There is no denying that I love Autumn/Winter fashion. I find it SO much easier than summer, and with the summer being a scorcher I found it even more challenging than usual deciding what to wear everyday. That being said, it will probably get to March and I’ll be desperate to get my straw bag and sandals out again. Anyway, in prep for colder climates during the last couple of months I have tried to source some of my favourite and (hopefully) timeless pieces that will be worn to death. With timeless pieces of clothing I don’t mind spending more money as I see it as a bit of an investment so the items below with you will range in price.

I’m going to start by sharing all the bits I have bought so far, some old items that I dig out year after year and the things that remain on my wish list that my bank account hasn’t quite been able to stretch to just yet.

Recent Purchases

Blazer – H&M, T shirt – ASOS, Belt – Zara

Cardigan – H&M, Mom Jeans – Marks and Spencer (old), Watch – Larson and Jennings, Shoes – ASOS (old), T shirt – ASOS

Snakeskin Shoes – Zara

My go to perfumes and the beauty products that will save my skin when the temperature drops.

Old Faithfuls

Below I have shared some wardrobe staples that I have had in my wardrobe for at least a year. Please excuse my photo taking skills. Who knew I’d find it so difficult to take pictures of clothes.

Aviator Jacket – Zara

Current Wish List

I hope this gives you a little inspiration. I find that everything above is so easy to style with jeans, tweed trousers, skirts and over dresses which. As always theres still so much on my wish list but my priorities are trousers that aren’t jeans and winter dresses for dressing up and down.

Happy Sunday!

Who to follow on Instagram

Here I am. Back again after yet another unplanned break from both the blog and Instagram. Does anyone else ever feel like they’re lacking inspiration/motivation a little? I have been putting together ideas for the upcoming seasons and that’s as far as it went. Anyway, after a getting back into a relatively normal routine after 11 days off work my ‘creative juices’ are flowing again (what a horrendous expression).

I have been meaning to put together a post like this for ages as I often get asked who to follow for the below categories. The ones I have chosen to mention I’ve been following for a while now so have gotten to know their style and can 100% recommend that you follow them if any of the topics discussed are of interest to you. I will provide you with a little snippet of their feed and a link to their blog/website so that you can have a little mooch yourself. There are SO many others that I could have included but I thought I’d go with the accounts that I know well.

I won’t comment on every single account that I’ve included otherwise this really will take you half a day to read, but be assured that they are all lovely/likeable girls, some of which I’m lucky enough to call my friends! With a real mix of categories I’m hoping to have captured at least one of your passions.

The last category that I have called ‘Real Life’ (mainly cause I couldn’t think of a better title), I have included three profiles that have really opened my eyes to subjects I felt pretty uneducated in. They cover subjects such as baby loss, blood cancer and mental health and since following them I have learnt SO much. That isn’t solely what they are about however. They cover a mix of fashion, interiors, family life, lifestyle (I could go on) and coincidentally they are all bloody hilarious.

Now get browsing…

Real Life

I love blog posts like this where you can just admire lots of pretty pictures, it makes for pretty easy viewing.

I hope this gives you aaall the inspiration. Now get yourself on Instagram and follow every single one of these accounts. You won’t regret it. Most of them also have the balls to Instagram story too (I’m not there yet) and I love seeing what everyone has been up to when I get home from work. Maybe I need to get a life ha.

Happy Instagramming!

My Daily Skincare Routine

‘Be good to your skin. You’ll wear it every day for the rest of your life’. – Renée Rouleau

I am a strong believer in skincare being an investment. So I decided at the beginning of this year that it was time to step it up a gear as I’d just hit 26. I’m told to get ahead of the game rather than wait till the wrinkles and fine lines appear, so I did just that.

I’ve got combination skin and lack hydration particularly under my eyes, so have been experimenting with different products across 3 or 4 brands that target these issues. I’m now about 7 months into this routine and my skin is the clearest it’s ever been and glows so much more that it used to. A few of my friends have also asked what products I use/what the target and so this is why I’ve chosen to share my ‘skincare journey’ with you now in the hope it may advise others.

I feel a little out of place talking about skincare products, so let me start by saying I am not a skincare expert this has been trial and error across a period of time.

To start I wash my face ensuring I remove all of my make up. To do this I use the Bobbi Brown ‘Soothing Cleansing Oil’ which you massage into your whole face and it basically melts away your make up. It’s so gentle on the skin and I then splash it away with warm water. It doesn’t leave your face feeling oily and it really does remove all of your make up. You may need a little more depending how much you are wearing but generally I use two pumps every morning and night.

I also have the the Bobbi Brown ‘Extra Balm Rinse’. It’s a little more pricey but it lasts for aaages and is that little bit of luxury when you need a pamper. (Almost) every Sunday has become a bit of a pamper day for me so I tend to combine this cleanser with some of the Bobbi Brown ‘Buffing Grains’ to gently exfoliate my face. You need very few of these so they also last for a long time.

‘The Ordinary’ has recently become one of my favourite skincare brands and all of their products are SO reasonably priced so I didn’t take much persuading. When I first looked at their website I had NO idea what any of their products meant but after researching what my skin required to improve it’s hydration I chose the Hyalouronic Acid 2% + B5. I apply three drops to my face every morning and night (after cleansing, before moisturising) and massage in to my skin. This is a water based product so doesn’t leave your skin feeling/looking greasy.

The caffeine solution targets dark circles and puffiness under the eyes which annoyingly is something I suffer from. I can’t say too much on this as I only started using this in the last few weeks but so far so good and very little product goes a long way. Once I’ve applied both of the ordinary products I use a little of the Kiehls ‘Creamy Eye Treatment’ morning and night which moisturises and brightens.

These Bobbi Brown face creams are amazing and smell equally as great. I use the ‘vitamin enriched face base’ every morning before I apply make up since it acts as a brilliant primer. The ‘Hydrating Face Cream’ (as you can see is well loved) is my evening equivalent to the face base. It does exactly what it says on the ‘tin’ and leaves my face feeling silky smooth.

The Extra ‘Repair Nourishing Milk’. This product is HEAVEN! I don’t use this too often as it’s rather expensive but like the Extra Balm rinse its perfect when you’re after a little luxury. It got a lot more use in the winter when it was particularly cold and my skin was much dryer than usual. It has ‘moisture of a face oil plus the skin-renewing benefits of a treatment’ and leaves your skin feeling so nourished and glowy (I know that’s not a word).

Now I am of course prone to spots every bloomin’ month. However Mario Badescu saves me with this amazing ointment. The answer is not to squeeze!! (I’m guilty of it oops), then apply this lotion before bed. By morning it’s much dryer if not gone! Genius!!

Lastly, drink plenty of water! I know this may seem like an obvious one but it really does make a difference. It’s recommended that you drink 2 litres of water a day so give this a try. I can so tell when I have not drunk enough.

I hope this’ll give you a little insight in how to get hydrated, nourished and glowing skin. If you have you any questions feel free to comment and you’ll be able to shop any of these products below.

Happy pampering!

July Wishlist

I know I say it every month but HOW is it July already?! This year is running away with me. So much that I forgot to share my June Wishlist with you. Oops! I’d like to say it’s because my social calendar has been jam packed but that would be a massive lie. So this month, with summer in full swing I thought I’d share more of what I have bought and will be buying in the lead up to my holiday which is now less than two months away. Still feels like a lifetime away however.

Starting with beauty I have decided to invest in a couple of hair masks that came highly recommended to me. I have been bleaching my hair since I was about 16 and it’s finally taking its toll. Breakage is rife and I now have unwanted layers YAY. The two treatments are ‘Olaplex 3’ and the ‘Kerastase resistance masque force Architecte’.

I am not expert on this subject so please don’t quote me but I have read that ‘It’s a system that rebuilds the damaged bonds in your hair that are broken during the chemical process. If you’ve been highlighting your hair for years, Olaplex allows you to rebuild the strength, structure and integrity of your hair.’ Kim Kardashian swears by it and if it’s good enough for her it’s good enough for me.

The Kerastase mask again strengthens and fortifies hair to reduce breakage, so I thought that these two masks combined should work wonders. Lets pray! Perhaps i’ll do a mini follow up blog on how I get on with these products.

Onto the next. I decided to keep my summer wardrobe fairly neutral this year so in order to add a pop of colour I plan to invest in a quality red lipstick. On trying several different brands I settled for Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Pur Couture’ in ‘Le Rouge’. It’s long lasting and the pigment is amazing. With an SPF 15 moisturising formula it protects your lips and keeps them looking nourished. It’s fairly expensive at £28 but for the quality I can justify it.

Finally, on the subject of beauty I will without a doubt be buying the Bobbi Brown highlighting powder in ‘Bronze Glow’. Oh my goodness!! This product creates such an amazing glow perfect for this sunny weather we’ve been blessed with. It’s high impact light reflective powder catches the light and makes the your cheek bones pop! I’ve been trying to wear less face make up now that I have caught the sun a little and am embracing my freckles this year, so this highlighter with a little concealer, pot rouge and smokey eye mascara should be all I need (I hope).

Okay so onto fashion. I’ve really annoyingly shrunk my Breton stripe T shirt dress in the wash. It was such a good staple to throw on at this time of year. I’d literally wear it to work, round the pool, out to lunch you name it. Anyway i’m on a mission to replace it. The one I shrunk was cheap and cheerful from H&M (possibly why it shrunk), but since I got so much use of it I’m willing to spend a little more money on one. At the moment I have my eye on this dress from Joules. With AW18 fashion slowly creeping into shops i’m secretly hoping it’ll drop into the sale.

On the theme of Summer dresses this is another beauty that I’ve been lusting over. I am seriously lacking in the summer dress department which became evident when I discovered I had NOTHING to wear for work. I think this style is perfect for the time of year too. It’s pretty embroidery makes it particularly attractive and the light weight smock style makes it appealing for the hotter days. You also can’t beat a loose dress for your holiday where you’re inevitably going to be stuffing your face ha!

Last but not least, tan sandals! Just when I thought I didn’t need anymore sandals I came across these bad boys. Once again I think they’d make a great summer staple and would go so well with my neutral summer wardrobe. I find this style so easy to throw on and also really comfortable (providing the leather is soft).

So there it is. I’m back on track and at the beginning of the month too! I’ll be sure to update you with my August wish list in the next few weeks and perhaps by then i’ll be starting to consider my A/W wardrobe.

Enjoy and as always, HAPPY SUNDAY!
